Carl Schreck, Journalist

Bio

I am a journalist based in Moscow, Russia, where I have lived and worked since the beginning of the century. I spent six years with The Moscow Times, Russia's leading English-language newspaper, where I worked as a reporter, news editor and managing editor. I've written about everything from chess to crime to capital markets in Russia, though I'm much more fluent in the Vienna Game than I am in credit default swaps. I've also written for the iconoclastic Moscow biweekly The eXile, Sports Illustrated, High Times, the Daily Telegraph and The National, among other publications. I was born and raised in Wenatchee, Washington — "The Apple Capital of the World" — and am known among friends for my savvy point guard play.
